Install files Debian, .deb, in your Nokia N900 is very easy to do, what happens is that it is dangerous to your expensive N900.

The steps in order to install .deb files eb your N900 are:
- Go to Applications Manager and then click on Applications catalog.
- Create a new catalog, for this type Matrix in web address, otherwise we leave blank.
- Not click Save, click exit. Now you can see the questions “Which pill?”.
- Pressing the pill red, obvious
. - If all is OK, the options in the repositories will have the option Install from file, which we can install a file .deb that we have downloaded.
You can see this video where you can see the process to get install .deb files.
NOTE: Of course not recommend to do this, if you want to do is underĀ your entire responsibility. With this succeed disable certain security restrictions, which will give us access to certain additional settings.

What you forget to mention is the fact that because the N900 only has a 100meg root partition the amount of software packages you can install on from the debian archives is EXTREMELY limited.

Thanks Jeff

I don’t think that is true. That would mean that you can only install 100MB of apps from the store. That’s not the case (I hope!). Since I don’t expect the package manager to install these .deb’s in a different place then the stuff from Ovi (or Maemo.org), you should not have any problems with installing loads of .deb’s.
This is just an open brainstorm. I may very likely be wrong
Anyone know if the 100mb restriction is true??? That’d be a serious, stupid flaw.
bnj depuis le nouvelle mise a jour instalation deb il ne fonction plus
my n900 is not asking which pill what to do

The install directory can be manipulated as to let you install in any directory .(my doc and or miniSD)

if the above dosnt work. install the appinstaller, its in one of the repositories. this lets u download and install deb files with one click. deb files should now be available in the repositories.
